Michael Glauser speaks to one hundred Main Street Entrepreneurs during his bicycle journey on the 5,000 miles long Trans America Trail. The lessons on how to build your dream business are based on their answers.
This is a unique approach to teaching, and I loved it! Their stories are not just about earning a living, but also about doing things they like, living in places of their choice, supporting families, and contributing to the community. Nine well organize chapters plus an epilogue lay out a map for creating a successful and thriving business. The nine chapters illustrate nine traits that are key in founding and growing a sustainable business. Their stories will give you confidence - “I can do this also.” However, in my opinion, some may find the content discouraging. The context may make the readers to think that they only have an idea, not an opportunity. The readers may think that they do not have the right work experience or their work experience does not match what they want to do. For those readers, I encourage you to take his suggested map in a macro view. That will help you to focus on filling in the gaps in your venture. The author's suggestions and plans are not new ideas, but how the action plans are laid out is important. The author’s final exercise, "Building Your Dream Checklist", will help you truly prepare for your upcoming endeavor!
