“Good is the enemy of great. Two big mediocrities join together never make one great company. Greatest is not a function of circumstances. Greatness, it turns out, is largely a matter of conscious choice.”
The above explains the content of this book. The author doesn’t present a magical formula nor a breakthrough in management styles. He presents an inquisitive mindset, a responsible mindset, and an actionable (rational) mindset.

“There is no single defining action, no grand program, no one killer in the reason, no solitary lucky break, no wrenching revolution. Good to Great comes about by a cumulative process - step-by-step, action by action, decision by decision, turn by turn off the flywheel - that adds up to the sustained and spectacular results. no matter how dramatic the end result, the good to Great transformation never happen in one fell swoop.”

Two other points that are emphasized in the book are;

1. Getting the right people on the bus (and getting the wrong people off the bus). I think before any strategy, the leader must get the right people on the bus. Build the best, the most professional management team in the industry

2. The technology can accelerate a transformation, but technology cannot cause a transformation.

In the last chapter when he brings up WHY GREATNESS, he shares a conversation with a previous student of his:

Student: “Maybe I’m just not ambitious enough,” he said. “But I don’t really want to build a huge company. Is there something wrong with that?”
Jim: “Not at all,” I replied. “Greatness doesn’t depend on size.” I then told him about …”
Student: (The student paused for a moment, then said): “Okay, I accept that I don’t need to build a big company in order to have a great company. But even so, why should I try to build a great company? What if I just want to be successful?”
Jim: The question brought me up short… Yet the student questions the whole idea of trying to build something great and lasting.

I would have answered: “If you plan to live long life, do you live long, or do you live a long and healthy life? That healthy part is why we should strive for Greatness.

I encourage you to read this book. Stay focus on the fact of the matter he is articulating. It will establish a mindset in you to go from Good to Great!
